Reading Notes: Narayan Ramayana part A

Fairly similar to the Ramayana I had already read earlier in the semester. The king of Ayodhya, Dasharatha, was childless, and the gods were trying to plan on how to deal with Ravana. Dasharatha gets Rishyashringa (rain bringer) to do a sacrifice. Dasharatha feeds the rice he got to his 3 wives. The sage, Vishvamitra, asks Dasharatha if Rama can go kill demons with him in the forest. Dasharatha says fine, but bring your brother. Rama and squad kill Thataka. Rama and squad continue to kill demons in the forest, and Vishvamitra decides to take the boys to Mithila. Vishvamitra tells the boys how the Ganges came to Earth. Rama accidentally wakes up Ahalya from her curse of being stone, and we learn about why Indra is the thousand eyed god. Rama meets Sita in Mithila and they fall in love. Rama is challenged to bend the bow, and he does, so they wed. We learn of how Dasharatha killed a boy in a forest and cause of this, he owes Bharata's mom 2 IOU's. He exiles Rama and makes Bharata king.

Week 6 Story: Give Them An Offer They Cant Refuse

What I imagined the Mafia to look like in this story Source "Visit Panipinto, the biggest town in little Italy!" read the run down sign at the edge of the city. This sight was not an uncommon one, as the whole country turned to hell after Y2K2. With the absence of technology that humans had come so dependent on, the whole world seemed to fall apart. Where governments once rained now belonged to smaller groups, and tribal warfare was common.  "Mama, are we going to be safe?" asked Michael, one of the small boys in Tailia's nomadic group. With a heavy sigh and the best forced smile she could manage, Talia told her children and the others in her group that they would look for food and water in the town of Panipinto and that everything would be okay.
